If you want to know how to blend Prismacolor’s color markers in a way that gives you a seamless look then read on. Creating a blended color with color markers is quite an art and takes a bit of practice.
One way to make blending easier is to use lighter shades for darker colors in the background or to blend all colors.
In this article, I will give you tips on how to blend this color marker into various patterns. It can be quite tricky but it is also interesting and it is very easy.
In the first step, you need to gather all your specialized tools like your Prismacolor Color Markers, tracing paper, and rags.
Step 1: Using your black marker pens, write a straight line on any transparent scrap paper. The light from the light bulb will reveal the lines that are already there. The idea is to create a straight line on the paper to get a nice blended effect. Remember to start writing straight even if you know that you do not have to finish that particular part of your project. This technique will make it easy to blend the markers for the next stage.
Step 2: Now that your lines are straight, take your bags and make sure they are even. Do not bother about getting the same number of stripes. You are working with a small area, so even though the result looks fine it is not recommended to go for a big border. Start with the smaller one and work your way up to the bigger one.
Step 3: Now you have your rags and your marker pens ready, what you need now is a little bit of magic. Get out your magic marker pens and spray some of your mixing formulae onto the area. Make sure that it is an even coating. Spraying the magic formula will prevent the marker pens from sticking to the paper as they will stick to the metal parts of the sponge.
Step 4: While the area is still wet, touch the area with your pointer to lightly mark it. It will take you about 30 seconds of careful and smooth strokes to create the line. Then put on your clean dry sponge. Once the paper is dry, use your magic eraser to completely erase the lines that you just drew. After this process, you can start mixing your colors.
Step 5: Here is how you do it: Take the colorless sponge and dip it into your mixing bottle. Add the magic marker pigment to the bottle and mix it up until you get the desired color. Next, you need to add your water to the bottle. Mix the paper and crayon in the same fashion you did for the initial steps. Once you are done, you will need to shake the bottle until you get the consistency you need for the paper to spread easily.
Step 6: Next, it’s time to do the actual writing. You need to take the clean sponge that you used to dip the paper into and start writing on it. Use the same motion you did with the damp sponge but this time make sure you blend the colors properly. After you are done with the writing, wipe off the excess ink using your Magic Eraser.
Finally, you need to wipe off the excess color and let the paper dry. This may take a few hours but it is worth it when you see the amazing look of your finished work. If you do not feel confident enough to do this on your own, you can buy a simple swab to dip into the ink. You can use this to dip in the entire color or you can use only the areas you want to have the colors blended in. It is still best to read the directions on how to blend Prismacolor markers correctly.
